It’s a typical Greece appetizer or snack. To make this amazing appetizer you can use different cheeses. To make the real deal you definitely need cheese from Greece. The options are: graviera, kefalograviera, halloumi, kasseri or kefalotryi. Within Greece you have a lot of different regions. It’s time to show you the ingredients for this dish.

Saganaki Recipe

This snack recipe is so easy. You need the follow ingredients: Feta cheese, lemon and flour. You also need oil for the frying part.

The first step is to grab a cooking pan and fill the pan with oil. Turn the heat on medium and make sure the oil is hot. During the time the pan is getting hot, take two bowls. The first bowl is for the water. The second bowl is with flour.

Grab your block of feta cheese and gently slide it into the bowl of water. Leave it in the water for a few seconds and then take it out. Make sure that the excess water drips into the bowl. When no more water leaks, put the cheese in the bowl with flour. Make sure that each piece of the cheese is covered with a layer of flour. If this is the case, you can still cover the excess flour above the bowl.

Golden brown on both sides

In the meantime, the oil in the pan has heated up. Carefully place the block of cheese in the pan and do not touch it again. When you go see that the bottom is golden brown, gently turn it over. The cheese should be golden brown on both sides. You can then gently press the top to see if the cheese is already softening. Depending on the cheese, it will go faster with one cheese than with the other cheese. Then all you have to do is put the cheese on a plate and put a little lemon juice on the top. Enjoy it!
