You should actually have an air fryer. You may not use it every week, but it does come with a special convenience. The product is very versatile. Normally I was in favor of the deep fryer. Still with some dishes by the way, but I went more towards the air fryer. Not for the healthy aspect, since you don’t need oil, but because it works very quickly. Besides the fact that it works quickly, so is perfect for any home cook, you also get your food very crispy.

My secret to the best crispy potato wedges is to soak them in ice cold water first. By ice cold I literally mean ice cold. It is best to fill a bowl with cold water and then fill it with ice cubes. Usually you have ice cubes in the freezer. Then place the potato wedges in the bowl. Do this for at least 15-20 minutes. If you have enough time, I recommend 40 minutes. The best result is achieved with the Russet potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes.

Making potato wedges isn’t that difficult. You just need to know how to make the cut to get the wedges. It saves time that you don’t have to peel them for the wedges. You start with the potatoes lying on its side. Now cut the potato lengthwise. Then you put the potato on its flat side. You then cut through the length again. Then you turn the potato. So the skin side is now underneath. You then cut the potato lengthwise through the middle. You now see that you get that real wedges shape. Depending on the size of the potato, you can get more or less wedges. If you want smaller wedges, you can use small potatoes. If you like large wedges, choose a few large potatoes.

When you have cut the potatoes, fill a bowl with ice-cold water and ice cubes. Place the sliced ​​potatoes in the bowl for at least 15-20 minutes. The water must be really ice cold. After the 15-20 minutes, take the potatoes out and pat them dry with a tea towel or kitchen paper.

Then grab a bowl or a zip bag and place the potatoes in it. Then add the following spices: olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika powder, Parmesan cheese and parsley. Mix everything together. Let this wedges soak op the spices for 10 minutes. In the meantime, you can preheat the Air Fryer at 180 degrees Celsius. When the 10 minutes are up, it is time to place the potatoes in the basket. Bake them for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. I do recommend that you take out the basket every now and then and gently loosen the potatoes from the basket with a spoon, spatula or other object. You don’t want them glued to the end. You can also smear the basket with a little olive oil at the beginning if you think they are sticking.

When the potatoes are golden brown and crispy, they are ready. You will probably have to make more than 1 batch. Make sure the potatoes have enough space in the basket. All you have to do now is serve this great snack with a sauce of your choice. This can be mayonnaise, ketchup or another sauce.

  12. At 7 minutes loosen the potatoes from the basket.
  13. After 15-20 minutes or until golden brown the potato wedges are done! They are super crispy!
