Every flavor was so insanely delicious. It is also not surprising that Italy is the country where the best ice cream comes from.
The history of ice cream goes back to the Romans. The Romans came from Italy. Ice cream dishes were already served during Roman times. Honey, rose water, fruit and snow were used for this. Later, the ice cream culture was further taken to the Arab Empire. Many years later, around the 17th century, it was an Italian who started an ice cream factory in France. 100 years after its foundation they sold around 80 different flavors of ice cream.
Over the years, more and more different flavors came up. For example, it was not only Vanilla ice cream and Chocolate ice cream, but more and more toppings and sauces were also invented. Ice cream became more popular in Europe especially after the Second World War. This was the combination of the invention and distribution of the freezers and the first commercial factories that where build in Europe.
It’s not known who exactly discovered the Cinnamon ice cream. With Cinnamon Ice cream you have a lot of possibilities. You can choose to add more ingredients like Bastogne cookies or pecan nuts. This recipe is really easy. You only need a couple of ingredients that will be discussed later on in this article. The one problem with ice cream, is that you need an ice cream maker. This will cost around the $100,- dollar. I know, its serious money. But like most equipment in the kitchen, if you buy this one time you can enjoy this for a lifetime.
Making Cinnamon Ice Cream at Home
The start of making ice cream, is making a custard. You started by whipping your egg yolks and sugar in a bowl. Next, place a saucepan with whole milk, whipped cream, cinnamon and salt on the gas over medium heat. Stir well. When you see that steam is coming off the mixture, it is time to slowly pour the mixture into the egg yolks. Pour a little bit each time and mix well. If the mixture is to hot you will get scrambled eggs.
When the egg yolks have the same temperature as the mixture pour everything back into the saucepan. Change the heat to low. Keep stirring. If you put the gas too hot, the bottom can burn and you will have to start all over again.
You will notice that after a few minutes the substance thickens. If you take a spoon and the custard doesn’t fall off the spoon, it’s okay. All you have to do is stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the custard into a bowl and put foil on top. Put the bowl in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
After the 12 hours it is time to put the mixture in the ice cream maker. Follow the instructions as known by your ice cream maker. This is different for every ice cream machine. It is important to chop the pecan nuts with a knife before the end. You add the pieces of pecans at the last minute. When the ice cream is ready, move it to a container and put it in the freezer for at least 2 hours. So it has time to harden. When the ice is hard you can serve it! You can put some pieces of pecan pieces in the bowl and some brown sugar or some extra cinnamon for topping!
How to make Cinnamon Ice Cream

- Grab a saucepan and put the whole milk, whipping cream, cinnamon and salt on medium heat.

- When the mixture is warm mix a bit at the time with the egg yolks mixture.

- If the substance thickens and it will not fall of your spoon, the mixture is ready. Add the vanilla extract and mix everything for the last time.
- Put the mixture in a bowl with foil on top.
- Put the bowl in the refrigerator for 12 hours
- After 12 hours place the mixture in the ice cream machine. Follow the steps on the ice cream machine.
- Chop some pecan nuts and at these at the last couple of minutes with the ice cream.
- Move the ice cream to an air tight container.
- Place the air tight container for a minimum of 2 hours in the freezer.
- After the 2 hours your Cinnamon Ice cream is ready to serve!
