It takes some time, but the taste of the food you prepared yourself is so good. One of these dishes that you can make at home is pasta carbonara or tiramisu. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at how to make Tiramisu.
What is the definition of Tiramisu
The meaning of Tiramisu is:
“Tiramisu is dessert with layers from Italy. Tiramisu contains sugar, eggs, mascarpone, espresso, lady fingers, Kahlua liqueur and cocoa. The first layer contains ladyfingers which are drained in the mixture of espresso, sugar and Kahlua liqueur. The second layer contains a mixture of mascarpone, sugar and eggs. The tiramisu is built up layer by layer. The top layer contains a thin layer of cocoa powder.”
Ingredients for Tiramisu
To make this dessert you need a couple of ingredients. These ingredients are eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla pod, espresso, Kahlua liqueur, Mascarpone, whipped cream and Cocoa powder. Below we will explain the ingredients or watch our video!
Ladyfingers
For this dessert you need Ladyfingers. There are two options: buying or making the ladyfingers by yourself. We choose for option 2. To make ladyfingers you need the following ingredients:
- Eggs: you can use normal eggs. You can keep the eggs at room temperature or in the fridge.
- Sugar: you can use granulated sugar, it’s just normal sugar.Â
- Flour: we have used All Purpose flour.
- Vanilla pod: we prefer a Vanilla pod above Vanilla extract. If you don’t have a vanilla pod, you can always use vanilla extract.
Cream
To make the cream you need a couple of ingredients:
- Whipped cream: you can use store bought whipped cream or by making it your own. We made whipped cream by using heavy cream.
- Sugar: you can use granulated sugar, it’s just normal sugar.Â
- Eggs: you can use normal eggs. You can keep the eggs at room temperature or in the fridge.
- Mascarpone: there are all kind of brands with Mascarpone on the market. We used the Mascarpone from Galbani.
Dipping liquid
To make your ladyfingers spongy you create a bath with a combination of ingredients where you can immerse it. The ingredients you need are:
- Espresso: it doesn’t matter which brand you use. It is important that the espresso is fresh.
- Sugar: you can use granulated sugar, it’s just normal sugar.
- Kahlua liqueur: you can also use other kinds of liqueur. If you don’t like liqueur it’s also possible to leave this out of the recipe.

Ingredients
- 2 pieces Eggs
- 125 grams Sugar
- 70 grams Flour
- 1 piece Vanilla Pod
- 60 ml Espresso
- 15 ml Kahlua
- 200 grams Mascarpone Cheese
- 100 grams Whipped Cream
- Cocoa powder
Instructions
- First we start with making the ladyfingers. Start with separating two egg whites from the egg yolks.
- Start measuring 3 cups of 20 grams of sugar (in total 60 grams).
- Mix the egg whites and add 20 grams of sugar one by one.
- Add the two egg yolks and mix everything together to get a light color.
- Measure 70 grams of flour and sieve the flour before adding it to the mixture. Mix everything again together.
- Preheat the oven up to 170 degrees Celsius.
- Pour the mix in a pastry bag and Choose a bagpipe mouthpiece.
- Get your baking trey and add baking paper as an under layer.
- Create the ladyfingers with a length around 5 till 7 centimetre. and Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
- Place the ladyfingers in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
- When they are golden brown take the ladyfingers out of the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes.
- Make an espresso (60ml) and add this to a bowl.
- Next add 15 grams of sugar and 15ml of Kahlua. Mix everything together and set aside.
- The next step is to make the cream. You need 100 grams of whipped cream. Start mixing this with the kitchen machine.
- Add 10 grams of sugar. Mix this until its get fluffy. Set this bowl aside.
- Take another bowl and add 2 egg yolks and mix it until its get's a creamy light color.
- Next take a saucepan for making a syrup. Add 40 grams of sugar and 30 ml of water. When the substance becomes viscous remove the pan from the stove.
- Add the syrup to the creamy mixture. Use a kitchen machine to mix everything together.
- Next soften 200 grams of mascarpone and add it to the mix. At last you need to add the whipped cream to the mix. Stir everything well.
- Its time to get everything together. Take one ladyfinger and dip it in the coffee/kahlua mix. Place the ladyfinger in your bowl of ramekin. Repeat this process until your firstlayer is ready.
- Next use a pastry bag to distribute the batter as your second layer. Repeat this process your last layer is a layer of batter.
- Cool the ramekins in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
- After 4 hours its time to make the final layer. Sprinkle cocoa powder on top.
