When to greasing a cooking sheet

You may be wondering why a cooking sheet should be greased. The reason for this is to make sure that the dish you are making does not burn and stick to the sheet. To ensure that it does not stick, you can also choose to buy silicone baking supplies. A second option is to choose for baking paper. When I bake something, I always make sure that I have baking paper.

The reason for this is that I’m sure it won’t stick. A second reason is that I don’t have to grease my baking tray and I always have it in my drawers. Within 2 seconds the baking paper is on it and I can put the cookies on it.

If you don’t have baking paper and no silicone option, you will have to grease the baking tray. Read below the steps you have to take.

Steps for greasing a cooking sheet

You don’t have a silicone option or a baking tray, no problem at all. You just need to grease the cooking sheet. The two options for greasing are:

  1. Cooking spray
  2. Unsalted butter

Important note: never use cooking oil.

Cooking spray greasing

When you use a spray it is important that a layer is created on the bottom. If you notice that there is too much, you can always remove this with a cotton cloth. It’s that simple. So the steps briefly below:

  1. Remove the cap from the spray
  2. Spray a layer on the baking tray
  3. Remove excess fat with a cotton cloth
  4. The cooking sheet is ready

Unsalted butter greasing

With unsalted butter you actually have two ways that can also be found step by step below. You can just take a packet of butter and run it over the baking sheet, so that the places where the cookies will be placed have a layer of unsalted butter. A second way you have to use with a paper towel. You dip the cloth in the butter, so that the tip of the cloth is covered with butter. Then lubricate the baking tray with the tip.

  1. Grab a packet of butter
  2. Run the butter package along the baking tray to coat it with a layer of fat
  3. Remove the excess butter with a cotton cloth
  4. Put the packet of butter back in the refrigerator

The second option is as follows:

  1. Grab a packet of butter
  2. Get a paper towel
  3. Place the tip of the paper towel in the soft butter
  4. Use the tip to coat the baking tray with a layer of fat
  5. Remove the excess butter with the cloth
  6. The packet of butter can be put back in the refrigerator. The baking tray has a layer of grease.
