  • Large pan
  • Potato masher


  • 1 kilo Potatoes
  • 500 grams Carrots
  • 250 grams Onions
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Ketjap
  • 1 Bouillon cube
  • Pepper
  • Salt


  • Peel the potatoes and cut them in cubes.
  • Scrape the carrots clean and dice them.
  • Peel the onions and cut them in half rings.
  • Grab a large pan and add the potatoes. Add water so that the ingredients are just under water and add some salt.
  • Grab another pan and add carrots and onions, bay leaf, ketjap, pepper and , bouillon cube. Add a bit of water. The ingredients don't need to be under the water.
  • Bring it to a bowl, after boiling put the gas on low for 25-30 minutes.
  • After 25-30 minutes drain the pan. All the water needs to be gone.
  • Cook the potatoes dry for another 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Use a potato masher to mash everything together.
  • Add the salt and pepper. Mix everything together.
  • Taste the Hutspot and add some more spices if you want! Enjoy this amazing Dutch Hutspot!
